I once had dryness and flaking of the skin at the soles of my feet. It was very itchy and I often scratched at it and picked at the dry skin flakes. This caused small wounds when I pulled them off, where the dead skin connects to live skin. This aggravated the condition and caused severe, burning pain when I walked. I used a steroid based eczema treatment prescribed by a dermatologist.
